Banff Activities

Various outdoor activities are available and can be arranged during your stay at the Rimrock Resort Hotel. Several can be enjoyed year-round.

The Canadian Rockies are world renowned for their ski resorts. Canada's Banff National Park and the surrounding areas have a variety of magnificent mountain golf courses to challenge you as well.

In addition to great skiing and golfing, Banff offers horseback riding, fishing, tennis, heli-hiking, white water rafting, gondola rides, outdoor hot springs pool, heli-skiing, snow shoeing, dogsled rides, and winter festivals. As well, the town of Banff offers many wonderful shops, art galleries and museums.

Skiing Information

Banff National Park is home to three of the world’s finest ski resorts;
Mt. Norquay, The Lake Louise Ski Area and Sunshine Village.

The three resorts offer almost 8,000 acres of skiable terrain on one convenient, tri-area lift ticket. There’s terrain to suit every level and desire, from gentle groomed runs to some of the world’s most extreme in-bounds challenges.

Winter Activities

Below are some of the Winter activities available in and around Banff.

Snowmobile Tours
Located west of Banff in the Kicking Horse Valley, travel time from Banff is 1hour and 45minutes direct. All guests are provided with safety instructions on the operation and safety of the snowmobiles.

Dog Sledding
If you like dogs and want to experience a part of Canadian Culture, this is the activity for you. A team of top breeds takes you on a journey back into time on sleds over snow. These dogs love to pull the sleds from the encouragement people give them.

Ice walks
The easy walks lead along the bottom of the canyon and over suspended catwalks to the twin pools and Upper Falls amphitheatre. There is time for photo stops along the way.

Snowshoeing
Explore the magnificent natural world of the Canadian Rockies in a truly Canadian way on snowshoes! Walking on snowshoes is fun, easy and you can go just about anywhere. The guides will open up the mysteries of this winter wilderness.

Ice Fishing
Ice fishing takes place in the Spray Valley, where Lake Trout are plentiful. From the comfort of a heated hut, landing that perfect fish is a winter experience not to be missed.

Helicopter Skiing
Enjoy a day of heli-skiing in what is the birthplace of this unforgettable adventure. This excursion starts with a two hour transfer to the Heliplex in Panorama, British Columbia, where you enjoy a good breakfast before heading out into the untracked snow (must be 18 years of age and an intermediate skier/boarder).

Ski & Snowboard Lessons
Various programs are offered at the different hills, from private lessons and group lessons to kids programs. Make the most of the opportunity to learn the latest techniques or advance your skills. Daycare is available at most hills.

Horse Drawn Sleigh Rides
Enjoy a trip on a sleigh ride through Banff's beautiful wilderness and along the scenic Bow Public Ride. Private, romantic sleigh ride packages are also available, including chocolate, liqueurs, and an authentic buffalo robe for extra warmth to make your ride truly special.
